It is rather difficult to carry medical gear. In particular, within the self-defense and preparedness community, carrying medical gear refers to carrying tools for treating trauma, specifically, life-threatening bleeding. There are four dedicated hemorrhage control devices that we are interested in here: the tourniquet, packing gauze, pressure dressings, and chest seals. Carrying all four items on-person is challenging, and the best option for doing so, in a concealed fashion, is with an ankle IFAK.
Having spend a lot of time wearing an ankle IFAK of late, I gave up on it. I simply don’t find it comfortable. It is a great option if you can make it work, but I just don’t get along with it. Ironically, I find an ankle gun perfectly comfortable, but not an ankle IFAK, no matter which options I have tried.
