Understanding Fanaticism Part III: The Domestic Threat

In part one of this series we analyzed the motivating factors for fanatical violence as seen, consistently, throughout history.  In part two we analyzed the current international issue that is the root of fanatical hatred and violence.  Here, we will visit the strains of fanatical ideology that directly touch us within the United States.

Oppressor vs. Oppressed

All domestic fanaticism is based on victimology, as referenced in the previous installments.   The great irony is that, within the United States, this oppression is almost entirely imaginary.  The majority of fanatical ideology that leads to violence is, consistently, from the far left of the political spectrum.  However, to be sure, there is also far right violence in the United States.  The true “Far Right” in American politics is, essentially, anarchist in nature, not fascist in nature as it is in Europe.  The term fascist now means nothing in American language, because the left labels anyone they disagree with as fascist.  True far right violence has manifested in attacks such as the Oklahoma City Bombing in the 1990s.  These incidents remain rare, but still possible, as just like far left violence, far right violence is also rooted in victimology.

Far more common is violent action from the far left.  The attack on Representative Steve Scalise at a baseball game is an example of this, as are many of the attacks on Churches we have seen.  The far left of the political spectrum has whipped up a radically secular ideology that views religion in general, and the Christian faith in particular, since it is tied to western civilization, as an “oppressor.”  Remember that victimology is the root of all fanatics.

Lone Wolf Fanaticism

Most ideologically motivated violence in the United States occurs in the form of “lone wolf” attacks.  Larger national, or international, issues can foster lone wolf extremism, but these supposed reasons are simply warped justifications given by unstable sociopaths in rambling manifestos.  The reality remains that the psychological profile of lone wolf attackers tends to be similar, regardless of what ridiculous reason is offered as justification for the violence.

When a youth of Middle Eastern decent goes on a shooting rampage, or blows something up, then it may later become known that they swore allegiance to a Jihadi terror group in the eleventh hour.  The allegiance proves just a self-fulfilling justification to the demented monster who carries out mass murder.  A young white man will commit the same sort of attack and then bemoan how he was bullied in his suicide note.  A woman will shoot up a church and wine about the “oppressive patriarchy” that clings to traditional values.  Literally, the supposed reasons given are always this asinine.

The reasons used by monsters to self-justify their atrocities don’t matter, but understanding the hot button issues in the world is important if you are a capable self-defender.  When certain events are running hot, there may be an uptick in lone wolf mass attacks.  Consider the fact that, in the past year, there has been a huge increase in female assailants in mass attacks, directed primarily against churches.  Why?  Historically, the percentage of mass shooting attacks committed by women has been almost zero.  Now, in the past year, I am aware of at least four attempts committed by women against houses of worship.

While nobody seems to have the stones to say it, I will state the obvious; the “conservative” Supreme Court overturned Roe V. Wade.  The abortion issue is Jihad for feminists, and suddenly women are participating in active shooter events, directed at their deemed source of that decision, the Christian faith.  Coincidence?  This is an example of how ANYTHING can be used by sociopathic murders to self-justify.  Are a lot of feminists prone to mass murder?  Of course not.  However, this is just another issue hijacked by the small, yet ever present, percentage of monsters among any demographic, and you should be aware.

Divisive issues, both foreign and domestic, chum for sharks that are below the surface.  To blame the issue is to put the cart before the horse; monsters find their issue to latch onto in order to motivate themselves to do monster stuff.  Simply be aware that, currently, there are a lot of issues, and a lot of monsters.

It should go without saying, but I will say it, this election cycle is going to be bad.  There will be violence, and I assure you that lone wolf sickos will find their issue in the coming months.

I will leave you with a final note of hope:

No matter the brand of fanatic you meet, should it be a jihadi terrorist, a left-wing or right-wing violent extremist, a feminazi who wants to shoot up a church, or just some looser who is mad at the world for not adoring him, the solution is all the same.  If you find yourself at ground zero of the next lone wolf attack, remember that good 9mm hollow points work the same on all of them, regardless of their ideology.

Carry your gun.  Evil is afoot in our homeland.
