Election Fallout and Personal Safety

There is a very simple statement that goes back decades as a general principle for predicting the outcome of elections and political change:

“It’s the economy, stupid!”

I first heard that from my astute father as a child, and I heard it again in politics classes in college.  When people are having difficulty making ends meet, they vote the party in power out.  The border, crime, abortion, gun rights, etc…, might matter to you as a more switched-on and politically active citizen, but the average Joe or Jane, who struggles to pay bills and knows first-hand that groceries are 60% more expensive now then they were four years ago, despite what NPR and MSNBC say about the economy, are going to vote the current party out.  If anything different happens, you have every right to be suspect of the sanctity of our elections.

There are three possible results that lead to a significant potential for violence:

  1. Trump wins decisively, and the usual lefties go wild and loot and burn down cities.
  2. Trump loses and his hard-core supporters go wild (doubtful, as burning down cities is a lefty thing).
  3. A potentially worst case, Trump wins, and the unconstitutional deep state does not certify the election, and his supporters do, in fact, go wild, and the state comes down hard in a hope to make an example out of the MAGA rebels, and we end up in civil war.

Regardless of the catalyst, you should plan to avoid it at all costs.  Do not go to DC so as to be around anything similar to another January 6th.  Plan to avoid big, blue cities in the wake of the election.  Do not participate in any riots or demonstrations; burning down businesses and property is an outrageous act no matter the injustice, real or imagined.

Now is certainly the time to consider your overall preparedness.  Just as being prepared for natural disaster warrants your concern, so does being prepared for civil unrest.  Have what you need to sustain at home for at least a month, preferably more.  Have all food, medicine, water purification, and other essentials necessary.  Do you want to go searching for a supermarket with something still in stock if things are burning down around you?

Naturally, if you are in a blue area, riots are of great concern, and if you are in small-town red America, it is unlikely to happen.  You know it and I know it.  Still, absolutely maintain preparedness no matter how red your vicinity shows on the political map.  Even very red areas have significant crime; rural areas are plagued with opioid junkies that will take every opportunity to prey upon citizens when there is a supply disruption or civil breakdown.

There is a high propensity for unrest and violence this coming election.  Don’t panic, simply apply reasonable and prudent security measures.  Stay armed at all times, be ready to self-sustain at home, and have a bug out plan in place in case you need to flee in a hurry.
