A New Theater of Terror

The threat of Jihadi terrorism is a constant in our modern world.  Fortunately, in the United States, it is rarely derived from our citizen population, but due to the influx of illegal immigrants over the past several years, we are more vulnerable then ever to terrorism. 

The new development in Syria is concerning.  the toppling of the Assad regime sets up a vacuum that will be filled with the most vile sort of people.  This whole situation is one last “F— You, America!” from the Biden administration.  The civil war has been raging in that country for 13 years.  Now, within a 9-day blitz, the regime falls?  Curious. 

Anyway, I remind the reader that the ISIS terror group grew up out of Iraq and Syria.  While that group was, for the most part, crushed, the “rebels” who just took over Syria are all from the same ilk.  One of the foremost roadblocks to these groups rising was Hezbollah, in Lebanon, as they always rode to the rescue of the Assad regime.  Now that Israel has crippled Hezbollah, these rebel groups were better able to take hold. 

While much ado is made over Iran and its Shia proxies, namely, Hezbollah, the fact remains that the Sunni terror groups have always been far more overt in actions against the west.  We have good evidence that Hezbollah cells are in the United States, and that is a threat, as they might be mobilized to act if the United States goes into a hot war with Iran.  However, the Sunni terror groups are certainly a known quantity when it comes to committing terror attacks.  Al Qaeda and ISIS are Sunni groups.  The rebel factions in Syria are Sunni. 

Realistically, the ramifications of this turn of events in Syria will probably pose a greater terror threat to the world then anything Iran and its proxies will do.  This is another gift to us all from the worst presidential administration in our history.  While the likelihood may remain small that you would ever find yourself at ground zero of a terror event, it is possible.  Stay vigilant and carry your handgun.  An armed citizen, at the right place in the right time, can change everything.  Of course, that is why terrorists will attack soft targets in blue urban centers.
