Readership for blogs is down to a dismal level. Had I started this blog a decade prior to when I did, I would, likely, have had far more readership back then. People no longer like long-form reading, and I find that sad.
Anyway, times change. People get their information from social media and video now, so I am going to start doing a weekly video update. My goal with Reflex Handgun has always been to provide a source or reliable information for the concealed carrier and prepared citizen. If adding a video component now helps accomplish that mission, so be it.

Longform is alive and well on substack.
It’s added some social media features like notes, so there’s some dumbing-down happening. But at least for now, it’s still driving engagement towards long-form posts.
If they move to an advertising model, that will be the death knell. But since they make all their money from subscriptions rather than ads now, the incentives are still aligned with supporting engagement with long-form content over the long haul.

I may have to look at that. Seems long form only thrives behind pay walls.
