I have carried AIWB almost exclusively for many years now. However, I carried strong-side for a long time before that. This probably dates me, but my first real carry setup was a full-size 1911 in an OWB leather holster, strong-side-hip, under unbuttoned, open-front shirts. I later moved to a Glock 19, strong-side, inside the waistband, under a regular t-shirt or polo. Finally, I arrived at AIWB with a Glock 19 or Glock 26, and I never looked back. My current carry solution proves imminently more concealable, and it is a significantly faster draw.
For strong-side, I think the best option remains carrying a larger gun under an open-front garment, either an unbuttoned shirt or a jacket. This works especially well in cold weather if you are wearing a jacket while out and about to begin with.
