With the recent assassination of high-profile conservative activist, Charlie Kirk, comes another tumultuous event for our nation. Personally, I knew of him, have seen some of the many online clips of his debates, but never followed him in any capacity. I found he spoke much common sense, but also said things that I did not agree with. Another human being that does not align perfectly on every single point with my world view. Who knew?
Apparently, I grew up in a time and culture in which having your beliefs challenged was an expected, and very much required, mechanism in forming your own views. Even if you found the opposing voice uncomfortable, or even downright offensive, debating positions on any given issue was part of growing your own perspective and belief system.
We no longer live in that time or place.
I think the circumstances of the assassination are suspect, at best. The fact that the anticipated culprit materialized, for obvious reasons considering the victim’s stance on a certain hot button issue, seems to make sense. Or does it? A further question to raise would be, what de-stabilizing entity would lurk behind a larger conspiracy? Who does it help?
It helps an organization, foreign or domestic, that wants the United States to rip itself apart in civil conflict, thus weakening its position on the world stage. It helps an accelerationist group bring the social collapse that they want to usher in so they can seize power. It would also help a deep state that wants to kick off enough social unrest that a martial law type crackdown is clamored for. Sadly, there are plenty of bad actors who want destabilization.
Or, perhaps it is Occam’s Razor, and the current suspect is, indeed, our man, for the anticipated reasons. The fact that trust in our federal government is at such a low leaves nothing to confidence.
But here is the much larger social and cultural problem that the assassination exposed:
Many, many, many people on the far side of a political spectrum are happy that a man who they disagreed with was murdered, simply for the fact that he said things they don’t like to hear. And, they have the boldness to publicly declare it. Many who have said as much have lost their jobs. Yes, your free speech should be protected. However, last time I checked, at-will employment runs both ways.
This is the terrifying reality; a significant percentage of the left wing is fine with people being murdered because they express views, through words alone, that are counter to what they feel. Notice the word “feel” rather than “think.” There is significant and inflammatory rhetoric on both sides, though I am not going to try and sound “diplomatic” and suggest that it is of equal amount from each. But, it needs to end. As well-known gun guy, Michael Bane, often says, this kind of rhetoric “chums for monsters.” Then the people who do it pretend that they are surprised when a monster rises to the surface. The more disturbing trend, however, is many do not seem surprised at all, but rather quite happy that their bait works.
There are many people in this nation that want to kill you, simply because you don’t agree with their positions on things. There are many, many more who would not do the deed themselves, but would be absolutely fine with the end result. Why? Because they disagree with you.
And, the people who are fine with your murder, for your beliefs that are contrary to their own, are all-in on disarming you. I would bet money on the fact that darn near 100% of the people who think it is good that Kirk is dead want to pass the most egregious gun control possible. I am sure that assessment comes as no shock at all.
You might guess what will happen to you and yours if they ever take your guns. We have already seen it. More than once.
Let’s hope the silver lining from this tragedy is a social crackdown on vial, murderous, individuals, and a hard turn towards making such dangerous thugs unacceptable again. Based on the movement generated by this incident so far, the victim might have achieved more impact in his untimely death than he ever did while living. There is that. Regardless of your political ideology, over which a society will always debate, it must be again established in our contemporary world that violence is not tolerated in response to only the spoken word.
If there is one form of intolerance that I am entirely on board with, it is the intolerance of violent individuals who think they have the right to be universally accepted and affirmed in their own believes, no matter how delusional. You have a right to be unharmed for anything you believe, as long as you don’t act with force on others. However, there is no right to push your own ideology, yet be sealed off from hearing any challenge to your own belief system, and there never was. That is the true form of intolerance.
There is a shocking number of individuals in our society that feel entitled to use violence to silence speech they disagree with. It is sad that we arrived here as a nation. Act accordingly.

Like you, I never followed Charlie Kirk. I knew of him. Some of the views he championed made sense to me, and others I really disagree with. However, I’ve been astonished by the reaction to his death. I’ve been amazed by how many people who are left of center are willing to come right out in the open and cheer on his murder. I understand why he angered so many. But to openly cheer on death and murder is horrific. Unfortunately, it seems to be more and more common for those on the political left. From the murder of the United Healthcare CEO, to the embrace of Hamas terrorists, to the cheering on of the firebombing of Governor Shapiro’s house, or smashing other people’s Teslas, the radical left seems more and more willing to embrace violent, antisocial behavior, and increasingly insane points of view.
Your article raises a very important point, which is who does this all help? Who benefits from the political division in our country. Who benefits from our citizens buying into increasingly anti-American, anti-western, anti-family views. I don’t mean to sound conspiratorial, but I think foreign actors are at play. I think our enemies have realized that they can manipulate the political left and use them to sow division and chaos in our country. I saw this up close and personal during the pro Hamas protests. On October 9th, 2 days after the terrorist attacks in Israel, I witnessed large celebrations on a local college campus. Students were handing out pro-hamas literature and widely praising the slaughter of citizens in a western country. What struck me was that their signs, and the literature they were handing out, didn’t look like something that could have been designed, and printed in 2 days. The material looked as though it had been prepared and was ready to distribute on college campuses prior to the attack. It was very clear to me then that nefarious foreign actors had infiltrated progressives in this country and we’re able to manipulate them into advocating on their behalf.
We’re seeing the same thing in the wake of the Charlie Kirk murder. I fully believe that foreign actors are using this event to push the left into normalizing political violence in this country. As you’ve also pointed out in your article, these are the very people that are aggressively advocating for disarming the American public. It’s so ironic that the very people who would disarm us, are also the people who seek to destroy us. Stay safe out there, and as you would say act accordingly.

Thank you for the thorough comment here and giving us insight into what you have seen. I agree with you that foreign actors are likely. Anyone who would benefit from the extreme destabilization of our nation is certainly a possible bad actor. But those who are useful idiots have certainly made themselves known. Stay well
