Edged Weapon Attacks

Europe is, frankly, unrecognizable compared to even a decade ago.  The seditious governments in the Western European nations have intentionally flooded those countries with culturally incompatible mass migration, both legal and illegal, to dreadful results.  Sound familiar? 

Along with this “migration” has come shocking levels of violence.  Of course, for many, violence only seems to count if guns are used; vehicle ramming, acid attacks, incendiary attacks, and knife attacks, apparently don’t bother the gun grabbers; they would love to be like Europe where the citizen has no means of personal protection. 

Many Europeans find themselves quite erudite and sophisticated since they are a gun-free society.  I would ask the gun grabbers both here in CONUS and in the new ruins of Europe, how sophisticated does it feel to be shanked on the streets of London?  And, if you do fight back, you go to prison rather than the perpetrator.  So sophisticated and Enlighted, unlike us cavemen who prefer to have the option to protect one’s self from the barbarian hoards. 

Blade attacks are exceedingly common in the EU, and, unfortunately, they have grown in popularity among our own violent actors as well.  Often, an attack conducted with edged weapons is accompanied by a phrase that rhymes with “Aloha Snack Bar,” as Jihadi terrorists often favor blades for the availability and the psychological impact it imparts.  And, certainly, it is not only Jihadis that like stabbing people; there are many stabbings each year conducted by violent criminal actors of all kinds. 

Edged weapons pose a specific set of considerations for the armed and prepared citizen.  Obviously, blades are exceedingly lethal.  The advantage of the firearm is greatly mitigated when the attacker is at contact distance with a blade and it is here that the “I would just shoot’em” myth kicks in.  When analyzing the considerable number of edged weapon attacks that have been caught on film a pattern becomes obvious; the attacker waits until they are within striking distance to launch their ambush.  It is unusual for a knife-wielding attacker to stand on the other side of the parking lot and announce to the victim that they are about to attack.  These aggressors typically launch an ambush from close proximity.

While there are all sorts of “counter-blade” techniques taught, understand that reacting to a stabbing against yourself that is already in progress is a bad place to be.  Intercepting the threat before it is at contact distance is the much better option.  Now, you may ask, “how do we intercept it if these kinds of attacks are clandestine ambushes?”  While the attack and the weapon itself is most often hidden until the ambush is sprung, there is body language that is consistently present.   The behavior of the attacker usually gives away the danger before the attack is sprung, and it is behavior that the aware individual should pick up on.   Learn to spot individuals who have set their sights on you, make space, and prepare to counter. 

Edged weapons are no joke, and at contact distance they are exceedingly lethal.
